UNDER
CONSTUCTION :
but if you have something for FancyFree to publish, do please e-mail
me about it.
FancyFree
publication
- FancyFree is
about free story-telling - I accept stories, articles about free
fiction, and recommendation lists. Previously
posted work is
welcome.
-
If I like your story a lot, it will be an editor's pick, and will be
listed as such in the table of contents. But if it
does not happen to appeal to my quirky taste to be a pick, it is still
accepted by the e-zine. I do not anticipate
rejecting any submission.
- Stories must be free;
an excerpt from a longer work that readers must
pay for, should not come here.
- All FancyFree content will be in blue border FancyFree
format - with uniform font, colors and subheadings. Please don't
send an attachment in a format that makes it hard work for me to format
your story.
-
My available web space is not unlimited; if the e-zine attracts a lot
of submissions, then rather than asking readers for money for web space, I will ask (and perhaps eventually require)
that authors help out by applying for web space on one of the
many free web hosts, which can be used to store the FancyFree pages
containing their stories. A story accepted by FancyFree will be
counted as part of the magazine, and as published, just the same,
whether the actual web page file is stored in FancyFree's space or somewhere else.
- I'm not asking anyone to get their own web space yet,
but authors are welcome to if they wish: I provided a list of
recommended hosts, and instructions for applying for
an accounts. [ link ] The entire process is not
much more complicated than submitting a story, even with no prior
experience with having a web page.
Thank you for
considering FancyFree for publishing your work - David Nunes da Silva

FancyFree
publication requirements
- FancyFree is
about free story-telling - if your work is a story, and is free, I
guarantee to publish it - unless I run out of room. No story
will
be
rejected for subject matter. Previously posted
work is
welcome.
- FancyFree
is a distrubuted 'zine ; the content is spread over many web
hosts. I hope authors will use their own web space
if they
have it, or apply for free web space if they don't.
If
neither is possible I have some free accounts I will use.
- The published content of FancyFree must be
in blue-border FancyFree
format, so that the distributed 'zine
will have unity across its many hosts.
- Stories must be free;
an excerpt from a longer work that readers must
pay for, should not come here.
- Story-telling
other than written prose - music, verse, spoken word audio,
video, games - is welcome, and reviews of, or articles about, free
storytelling are very much wanted - but a
free review of a commercial book, movie, or game does not belong here.
- There are three submission options, and the
guarantee of publication applies only to the first:
- Follow this link :
generate FF
page
to format your story or article into a blue-bordered
web page. You will need to paste your content into a box,
click a
button to generate the page, and save it to your computer.
Then upload it to your web space, and send me the URL .
Your story or article will appear in the next
issue.
- If you don't have web space, you may generate the
formatted page and
e-mail the formatted page to me .
I will upload it to a free web account. I don't guarantee to
arrange for hosting for stuff I don't like, however : see hosting
requitements.
Also, if you don't have a web page yet, you may want to consider
getting one. I think any author who has only uploaded to a
text
archive, can get additional readers with a web page ; I have been happy
with HostRocket, the host of FancyFree, and it took only a few
minutes to get this web space. I have written two scripts
: apply for free web space ,
and generate a simple author
home page
, which I hope will make it very easy
indeed. Here is a sample
author page.
- I
have tried to make the script for producing the blue-bordere pages as
simple as possible, but if it doesn't work for some reason you may e-mail unformatted
content to me , and
I will both format it and upload it.
- That's all - your work will appear in the table of
contents. I you have any trouble with any of these
instructions, do please e-mail me .
FancyFree
hosting requirements
- I
hope you will not violate copyright,
celebrate rape, provoke racial hatred, or hurt children or
animals. But if you do any of
these things, or even if you do all of them, in writing your story, I
will link to
it anyway. FancyFree
is
against all of these things, as editorial policy, but I do not see
censorship as the best tool for fighting them. If
you format your page yourself, and then upload it to your own web
space, you do need not worry about what I
think.
- However,
if you ask me to arrange for hosting, a different standard applies; it
is my responsibility to see that pages I post do not do bad things. So
if you ask me to provide for hosting, I
will consider that an assertion that your story or article is not
wrongful
in any of
the mentioned ways, or otherwise. If you think your
work
may have, or even might seem to have, a problem, tell me
about it in a comment.
- If
arranging for hosting becomes tedious, I may do it only for stories and
articles I like. Also, there are some practical
considerations,
concerning editing your work, etc. Using your own
web space
will be better if you can manage it.
Thank you offering your work to the public, and for
considering FancyFree - David Nunes da Silva
